MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE MALAYSIAN HYDRLOGICAL SOCIETY
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and a warm regard,
Dear Colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure to say a few words as the President of the Malaysian Hydrological Society (MHS). This society formed in 2001 is a non-profit organization under the Malaysian Societies Act 1996 and would come under the purview of the Registrar of Societies Malaysia with Dato’ Keizrul Abdullah the former Director General of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia being the first President of the Society. It has a humble beginning with only few members but now it has grown into a dynamic society with about 250 members and the number is growing. Current MHS members comprises various professionals, individuals and corporate bodies who are keen to promote the science of hydrology and the effective management of water resources for sustainable development of our beloved country.
This Society is envisaged to be a platform to promote education in all aspects of hydrology by hosting, organizing and participating in meetings and conferences at national and international levels. It is the wish of MHS that it also provides the platform to narrow the gaps amongst members towards understanding various aspects of hydrology namely operational, applied and R&D as well as understanding the management of the country’s water resources.
Lastly, I hope you will find this website useful especially to MHS members to be in touch with the activities of MHS and to continue giving support to make this Society remains relevant to all members’ expectations. If you are not a member yet but keen to be a member of this Society, please do not hesitate to join us so that you could contribute in bringing this Society to greater heights as one of the successful hydrological societies in the world today.
